One of customary events practiced each year in the Boys' Brigade (BB) is a pledge made by each member to continue their membership in the organisation - this is called the Enrolment Day. Some companies, like the 3rd Kuala Lumpur Company (3rd KL), bundle the event with its Awards Day - making it an Enrolment and Awards (E&A) Day. Such an occasion was celebrated by the Company on 26th July 2026, making it the 69th time.
This year's E&A was graced by Ms. Tan Giok Hui, Selangor's State Commissioner and Honorary Captain of the 1st Petaling Jaya Company, who attended as the day's guard of honour. Mr Wong Tai Chin, a Director at YMCA Kuala Lumpur, represented 3rd KL's sponsoring body on behalf of the Board.

Inspection of the Guard of Honour by Madam Tan Giok Hui, Selangor State Commissioner
The event began at 2.00pm with the inspection of the Guard of Honour (GOH), comprising Senior and Junior Section members, at the former tennis court area within the YMCA compound. It was inspected by Madam Tan, accompanied by Mr. Ng Jiehan, 3rd KL's Captain. Commanding the GOH was SSgt. Gideon Chan with SSgt. Lai Yuee Herng bearing the Company Colours. An all-officers' band played the General Salute and accompanying piece.

Following the GOH, guests and 3rd KL members proceeded to the Lee Kong Chian Hall, witnessing the marching in of the Colours. Former 3rd KL member, a PhD candidate with Universiti Malaya in microbiology, Mr. Muthu Kumaran, served as Masters of Ceremonies. Mr. Jonathan Ang, led the praise and worship. An impromptu speech was given by Madam Tan gave an impromptu speech, sharing her memorable experiences with 3rd KL and calling for more joint programmes with 1st PJBB. This was followed by a speech by Mr. Ng who gave a preview of what to expect in 2026 as the Company will be celebrating its 70th Anniversary. The 3rd KL band also performed several song items.

Formalities aside, the E&A is a major programme for the Boys, as it is one of the two main days they receive their hard-earned badges. Some will even receive promotions for their hard work. Special recognitions were also bestowed to Boys to have performed above and beyond.

In between the awards and promotion, the Junior performed a dance, followed by a sermon by Rev. Victor Vethamani, Chaplain of 3rd KL who spoke of the importance of having the right fundamentals in nurturing leaders of the next generation (he spoke about the importance of good nutrients - which was ironic as sausages and nuggets were served for refreshments).

The Chaplain led the Order of Enrolment where all BB Boys and Officers pledge their service to the Company for yet another year.

The Colours marched out, followed by the BB Vesper. The event officially concluded with the playing of the Last Post - marking the end of 3rd KL's 69th Enrolment & Awards Day.
