January promotions

Saturday, 7th January 2012- YMCA KL, Brickfields - It is the very first Saturday of a new year 2012. The last time we met was just a week ago when the form threes organised the Year-end Party which many of the Boys were expecting some promotions to happen at that party but to their dissapointment, it did not take place. Well, the officers' council has decided that a promotion is a significant moment for a Boy and it is a very symbolic moment and hence it should be done in proper, that is in uniform. Hence the council decided to have it today.

A good number of chevrons and red sash were spread on the table during closing, so finally, the moment every BB Boy looks forward to has finally arrived! I am sure in their minds, especially for those who's been in the BB for more then three years, they can picture themselves going forward to receive their chevron. A promotion is an 'appointment', hence you are chosen because the officers sees potential in you and wants to give you more responsibilities to be a leader of the company and of the Boys. In fact a promotion carries more responsibilities. The higher you go, the heavier it becomes!

Everytime when there is a promotion exercise, there will always be happiness and dissapointments. For some, they felt that they have worked hard enough and they've been loyal to the company and hence they feel they deserve it. Well, there cannot be too many NCOs in the company and it does not make sense to have too many generals! So, to those who thought they should get it but did not, DO NOT QUIT, you are probably on the list. Perhaps you should speak to an officer to find out your strength and weaknesses so that you can further improve yourself.
