Countdown to the New Year 2012

31st December 2011 - Saturday YMCA KL, Brickfields- What do you do on the last day of the year? Party and countdown to the new year! And that was what the Form 3 Boys planned the year end party to be. Immediately after their PMR examinations, Cpl Timothy Lim and his gang met up and started to brainstorm. After many weeks of planning and practices, the day finally arrived. But the day before that, some of the Form 3 Boys stayed overnight in YMCA in order to get things right.

I came at 2pm that day though the party was due to begin only at 6.30pm. I was not here to check on the Form 3s but actually to attend a very important meeting with the other officers. So, I had a sneak peak at the hall. It was decorated with balloons and Christmas tree and chairs we arranged properly. They were going to do their final practice of their presentation and I was asked to leave the hall. Wow, it must be something really really good and I thought it was worth waiting for another few more hours! So, I headed to my important meeting.

Before 6.30pm, all the Boys were already in with their presents and of course not forgettting their RM25 which Nicholson Yap has been reminding us in Facebook over and over again! "No BB T-shirts" the committee insisted, but as usual there were one or two who did not follow and hence we were somehow reminded that this is still a BB party!

Timothy was the host of the night, he welcomed everyone and quickly invited Mr Tan Chee Keong to open in prayer and then followed by a speech from the advisor of the organising committee, Mr Jasper Low. Now done with the formalities, it is time to have fun and out came the man with the white beard and red suit, yup Santa Claus as we are still within that 12 days of Christmas!

Our guest, the ROANTTI group from Korea presented a popular beat from the famous Korean group SNSD.

Various fun group games were played and lots of prizes were given out. The BBQ dinner was very delicious and everyone enjoyed it very much!

After dinner, it was time for Wong Jia Hau to perform solo on the sax. Jia Hau was accompanied by Wen Xiang on the piano and Veeshan on drums.

Next was the test of how low you can go... everyone tried including the officers.

Then came to the highlight of the night a special performance by our very own Bruno Mars (ok, honestly I don't know who this singer is, that just tells that I am from an older generation!!!). This is the performance that the form 3s have been practising so hard for the past two months. It was indeed a good performance I must say and it was all done by the Boys themselves!

After the Boys, Mr Jasper performed a number with Wen Xiang backing him up and Jia Ren on the guitar.

Then the time everyone was waiting for, the countdown. Hold on... it is only 10.30pm? Aren't we a little too early? Oh OK... for today 3rd KL is following the Australian time...reason being... we've got under 15 year olds and they have to go back before 12 midnight!!! A video was played and with party poppers 3rd KL ushered in the 'new year'!

As usual after all the excitement, it was time to say goodbye. I was invited to say the closing prayer, followed by BB Vesper and then as usual the Boys had to stay back to clean up the mess.

We maanged to clean up the hall before 11.30pm and some senior Boys and officers brought the Korean friends to Bukit Bintang for the actual countdown!!!

3rd KL WISHES EVERYONE A BLESSED NEW YEAR 2012!

Note: The year 2011 has ended very well, we gave our senior NCOs various tasks and they have proven to the officers that they are capable of organising if given the opportunity and the proper guidance. A thumbs up to all the corporals!
