The Messengers Performs at 4th KL Band Concert
By Edrick Cheok
Saturday, 11th of June 2011- 4th Kuala Lumpur’s first ever band concert, entitled “Starry Night, The Beginning of Our Dream” was held at Luther Centre, Petaling Jaya. The event started at 7.30p.m with the singing of our national anthem, “Negaraku”. Then organising chairman and acting Captain, Mr. Andy Tan gave a welcome speech. Venerable Eddie Ong then gave his VIP speech.
Before the joint band performance of 4th KL band and St. Mary’s school band, there was a video introduction about the preparations for this concert. Finally, the band performance began and the combined band played a few enjoyable songs. After that, there was a percussion performance by both 4th KL and St. Mary’s percussion team. 4th KL gave a very exciting and heart-beating performance while St. Mary performed a comedy like performance.
It was time for “The Messengers”, the 3rd Kuala Lumpur’s choir team to sing. Wearing smartly, a white shirt with a tie, black pants and black leather shoes, the amazing looking choir sung three songs. Namely, You Raise Me Up, Stand by Me and the theme song, Why We Sing. It was a great performance because even there are different voices, they sing in one, in harmony.
Then the Violin Station gave a heart soothing performance and followed by the combined band, they played a medley of songs. After offering, it was closing prayer and BB vesper. Some left for home sweet home after that, some stayed at the church and had a good time of fellowship.
3rd Kuala Lumpur Company wishes to congratulate 4th Kuala Lumpur Company on their first ever band concert with St. Mary’s school band. We hope to see you soon in our upcoming band concert in YMCA, entitled “An Evening with 3rd KL, One in Harmony”. Thank you!
