1st KL's Enrolment Sunday

Venue: Wesley Methodist Church
Date: Sunday, 25/5/08

There were six of us who volunteered to represent our company at 1st KL’s Enrolment Service Day. It is a practice in our company to send our members to attend other companies’ functions when invited. It was 9.45am on this fine and sunny morning when all of us arrived at Wesley Methodist Church and met up with Mr Lawrence.

During the service, the pastor, in giving his sermon, introduced us to a church member named Samuel who served the church by playing the organ during service. Samuel is a student who is currently studying Singapore and would return to KL just to fulfill his duty roster. His commitment and passion to serve was exemplary.

After the sermon, two 1st KL members gave their testimony followed by a band presentation. As expected, the band performance was impressive. Next came the promotion announcement of several officers and sergeants. The service ended with the benediction and exit of the company colors.

After the service, we were surprised but happy to see our captain, his wife and his adorable daughter. At the parade ground we were invited to pose for a group photo with 1st KL.  During lunch our Corporal Jie Han had ice cream spilled all over his uniform. After lunch we hitched a ride home with Mr Tan and Mr Lawrence. On our way back, those of us in Mr Lawrence’s car had a comical time because Charn Chuen (aka the ‘penguin’) completely forgotten his house address until Mr Lawrence reminded him of it.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience and indeed a privilege for us to attend this memorable function. Thanks, 1st KL, for inviting us.
